    International Links

    Hillside is an International School.
At Hillside we believe that every pupil has the right to find out about the world around them. By looking at other countries and by seeing how other people live, young people can learn not just about new countries, but will very often see themselves in a new light.

    What we do

We have lots of opportunities to get involved in international events. These can take many forms. Regularly pupils visit link schools to work with pupils in other countries such as France, Slovakia, Germany and Italy as part of our Comenius projects.

We have strong links with a school in Malaga, and every year a large number of our pupils visit this school for a week in the summer developing their language skills and making new friends.

We also use the internet to work with link schools in other countries. A group of Year Eight pupils recently worked with pupils through a secure internet connection to discuss their ways of life and their hope for the future.

We welcome groups of students from other countries to Hillside. For a number of years we have hosted an International Mathematics Seminar with pupils coming from France, Spain, Germany and The Netherlands. They have worked in international teams to solve problems and present ideas as well as make new friends.

All pupils can experience this “International Dimension”, as we make a special effort to include work on different countries in all our lessons.

This is an area of the school’s life which is always changing. If you require any more information then please contact Mr D Bill, International Links Co-ordinator.
