Reward Scheme
Pupils in Years 7, 8 and 9 are awarded Merit Marks in these areas...
- Positive attitude and behaviour
- Good attendance and punctuality
- Kindness
They are given by the teachers of each subject. The total number of Merit Marks given will be rewarded and celebrated at a Special Presentation Assembly at the end of each term. We award Gold, Silver and Bronze Certificates. These certificates are included in your Record of Achievement.
Merit Marks
Rewards are an important strategy used to motivate pupils. Merit mark slips may be given by any member of staff to pupils in Years 7, 8 and 9 for positive attitude and behaviour, good attendance and punctuality and kindness
Attendance Rewards
All pupils have an opportunity to receive awards for attendance. The names of pupils who have achieved 100% attendance in the previous week are entered in a draw to win Golden Vouchers to be used in the Dining Room. Form groups who collectively achieve 100% attendance in a week are also rewarded with Golden Vouchers. Certificates are awarded each week by Progress Managers to reward the weekly attendance of form groups.
Certificates Of Merit
These are awarded for academic, social and sporting achievement, as well as service to the school. It is school policy to celebrate achievement and special assemblies are set aside to award certificates and openly acknowledge achievement.
Annual Prize Giving
Each year Hillside has a Prize Giving Awards Ceremony to celebrate pupils’ achievements. This is shared with parents, governors and special invited guests from the local community. Pupils in each class who have made good progress will receive a prize. Prizes are also awarded to pupils who have performed well in GCSE and given special service to the school.
Display Of Work
When pupils do particularly good work we will display it on the special boards in the classrooms and the corridors for others to see and admire.
