As we approach the end of the year it is nearly time to say goodbye to our Year 11’s the ‘Class of 2021’. However, before we do, I wanted to write to you with some updates and important information regarding upcoming events.
Final Day of Term: Wednesday 9th June 2021
As you are aware, Year 11 will have their final day in school on Wednesday 9th June 2021. Pupils will be expected to attend school at 9:00am, wearing full school uniform. Year 11 will have form time Period 1 during which Mrs Wardale & Mrs Jones will deliver a ‘Teams’ session on the remote offer for Year 11.Year 11 should be engaging with the remote work set until Friday 25th June, the official leaving date of all Year 11 pupils in England. At 10:00am we will have our Leavers Breakfast, we need to assess the most up to date Covid guidance to make a final decision on what this will look like.We want it to be a fitting goodbye to our Year 11’s but it obviously must be done safely.Following the breakfast pupils will leave at 11:00am.
I would like to remind pupils that we expect the same level of courtesy and behaviour as they make their way home from school, as we would for any normal school day.
During the Covid-19 lockdowns and to facilitate learning, a number of laptops have been loaned to pupils. If you are still in possession of one of these laptops please can I ask that you return your laptop and charger to Main office no later than Wednesday 30th June 2021.If you were loaned a WiFi dongle, please also return this to school.
Uniform and Resource Donations
Within our Hillside community, we are always keen to help and support each other. If you are no longer wanting to keep your tie, blazer, PE Kit or other items of uniform or revision resources, we will happily receive them as donations that can be utilised when others in our community require a helping hand. Please drop them off at reception.
Final Evidence Collection for Teacher Assessed Grades
I have previously written to you to inform you of how your child’s Teacher Assessed Grades will be calculated and how we have collected evidence. Whilst we have taken many steps to ensure that we have sufficient evidence, staff will contact you directly should they need to invite your child into school to complete any additional assessments and tasks after Wednesday 9th June 2021.
Online Learning Provision until 25th June
Following the 9th June 2021, on-line learning will be available on Teams and should be accessed and completed. The resources will include GCSE Pod & Oak National, along with several other online platforms, to ensure that your child is fully prepared for their next steps. All resources will be available in the Year 11 Team on Office 365.
We expect pupils to engage in their on-line learning during this period.
Class of 2021 – Leavers Party
Finally, should the lockdown lifting continue to progress in line with the government plan, we anticipate holding our Year 11 party on Thursday 15th July 2021. This will be held at Hillside High School between the hours of 7.00pm – 10.30pm. In the coming week or so, I will write to you with our plans, but please be assured we are working hard behind the scenes, along with our staff and a committee of Year 11 pupils to prepare a celebration that is befitting of your child’s time with us at Hillside High School.
As always, thank you very much for your continued support.
