Year 11 GCSE Update

6th January 2021

Dear Parent / Guardian

We hope that you are keeping well in these extremely challenging times. Your child will understandably be anxious following the Prime Minister’s address to the nation on Monday evening regarding the closure of schools and the cancellation of GCSE examinations in the Summer.

Today, Gavin Williamson, Secretary of State for Education, has addressed the commons to confirm that examinations will not take place in Summer 2021. He has given brief information outlining how grades will be awarded. These will be Teacher Assessed grades with support given to ensure these are fair and consistent across the country. In the coming weeks we will find out more about these and will share information with you as a matter of urgency.

What is clear, is that pupils need to carry on working with the dedication and determination that they currently have, as the work they are doing now will influence their final grade. This means every lesson, every day is crucial to their success.

Please do not hesitate to contact Miss Roby, Progress Leader or any member of the school’s leadership team if you wish to discuss this further, however we have limited information at present and will share further details as soon as we have them.

Yours faithfully

Mrs Ryan
