Extra Curricular

At Hillside, we are deeply committed to offering a rich and diverse extracurricular programme that enhances our pupils’ educational experience. Our aim is to promote cultural diversity, encourage pupil leadership, provide free enrichment opportunities, and give every young person a platform to explore, develop, and celebrate their unique talents. Pupils who attend extracurricular clubs regularly are also rewarded with vouchers as part of our commitment to recognising dedication and positive engagement.

Our Extracurricular Vision

Music

We offer free percussion lessons for pupils who show a strong interest in music, alongside a range of music‑based clubs including Hillside Singers, piano, and drums.

Performing Arts

Our Performing Arts Club gives pupils opportunities throughout the year to perform in school events such as the Christmas Pantomime, assemblies, Awards Evening, and our annual summer production.

Sports & Physical Activity

A wide selection of sports clubs run each week, allowing pupils to join teams and compete in football, rugby, netball, and athletics against other schools.

Breakfast Club

Each morning, pupils can enjoy a free breakfast in a relaxed space where they can talk with friends and play board games.

Active Lunch

Daily Active Lunch sessions help promote health and wellbeing through fun, energetic activities.

Study & Technology Access

Pupils may access computers and the Learning Resource Centre (LRC) for homework, additional study, or independent research.

STEM & Enterprise

We offer exciting STEM clubs as well as Young Enterprise opportunities for pupils to explore innovation, teamwork, and business skills.

Well-being & Community

We work hard to build a strong sense of belonging. Well‑being clubs run every night of the week in the LRC, providing support, relaxation, and a calm space for pupils.

Duke of Edinburgh

The Duke of Edinburgh Award encourages pupils to build confidence, resilience, and life skills through volunteering, physical challenges, skill development, and expedition experiences.

Promoting Pupil Leadership

We are proud to support a wide range of leadership pathways, helping pupils develop confidence, responsibility, and a voice within the school community:

  • MVP Project
  • Sports Leaders
  • Digital Leaders
  • Transition Ambassadors
  • Young Interpreters
  • School Council
  • Prefects
