The English team have reviewed pupils’ literature folders; we’ve examined and moderated the evidence for Blood Brothers, Macbeth and A Christmas Carol essays. We have made the decision that there is a broad base of evidence from these topics.
Work during lock-down on Unseen Poetry was completed in conditions of low control. To absolutely secure Year 11 literature grades, and strengthen portfolios, Year 11 will now also do an unseen poetry question – not full exam. This will replace the planned third Blood Brothers exam question.
As the Unseen Poetry question is skills based, Year 11 do not need to ‘learn’ or ‘revise’ anything: we will have three full lessons to prepare for a 25 mark comparison question next Thursday. This then secures the literature evidence with a piece done under high control.
