Humanities drop-down morning

Year 11 pupils made the most of a focused Humanities drop‑down morning this week as they continue their preparations for the upcoming GCSE examinations.

History students took part in a highly effective “Walking Talking Mock” for Paper 1, where teachers guided pupils step by step through exam-style questions. The session helped students to develop their understanding of mark schemes, strengthen subject knowledge, and improve confidence in structuring high‑quality responses under timed conditions.

Meanwhile, Geography students focused on their Paper 3 prerelease material, revisiting key sources and practising the skills needed to interpret data and apply geographical knowledge effectively. This was followed by an assessment, allowing pupils to test their understanding and identify areas for further revision ahead of the exam.

Pupils engaged brilliantly throughout the morning, demonstrating a mature and positive attitude to their learning. Feedback from students was extremely positive, with many finding the sessions a valuable opportunity to build confidence, refine exam skills, and feel better prepared as GCSEs approach.
