Year 11 Biology Residential

Year 11 Biology Residential – A Huge Success

Year 11 pupils recently took part in a highly successful Biology residential at Winmarleigh Hall, combining focused academic learning with teamwork, challenge and plenty of fun.

The residential began with a practical Biology workshop on food testing, followed by a range of outdoor activities that allowed pupils to develop confidence, resilience and collaboration (despite some chilly weather!). Evenings included organised activities and opportunities for pupils to relax and enjoy the grounds.

Across the visit, pupils completed multiple Biology lessons, including revision of required practicals and a full Biology Paper 1 practice exam. Staff were incredibly impressed by the maturity, focus and commitment shown, with pupils dedicating long periods of time to revision alongside active sessions.

A highlight of the residential was a “mini results day”, where pupils received personalised feedback and celebrated some of their strongest Biology results to date — with several pupils making significant progress since previous assessments. It was clear how much pride pupils took in reading and reflecting on their feedback.

Staff at the centre commented on how respectful, kind and motivated our pupils were throughout the visit, and we could not be prouder of how they represented the school. Families should be extremely proud of the ambition, effort and positive attitude shown by those who attended.

A fantastic experience, balancing hard work and enjoyment, and a great step forward as pupils continue their GCSE preparation.
